Creating a New Email Account

From the File menu, choose New, then choose Account

Choose Email Account
Click Next
Your Name can be anything you want it to be
Email address is your full email address
Click Next
Choose if you are setting up a POP or IMAP account
Enter the Incoming mail server your email provider lists
Click Next
User name will depend on your email provider. Most email providers use the full email address as the user name
This system only auto fills in the first portion so you may have to change it.
Click Next
This system only auto fills in the Account Name based on the User Name entered in the previous screen
You can change account name to anything you want it to be
Click Next
Click Finish
If you need to make special configuration changes such as port numbers or authentication continue to changing an account.
Making Changes to an already existing email account
To make changes to an already existing email account, choose Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings from the Edit menu
In the General account settings
You can change the email address and the account name or add a signature
In Server Settings
You can change the incoming server information such as mail port or server name
In Disk Space
You can change the size of the messages you want to accept and when messages are deleted
In Junk Settings
You can turn on the filtering systems
The adaptive filtering system does need to be trained before it will work
In Outgoing Server (SMTP)
Select the email account you want to work on
Click Edit
You can change the outgoing server information such as mail port or server name and if authentication is needed
To see your email password and change it, from the Tools menu select password manager
Then choose Manage stored passwords
Select the password you want to manage and click Show Passwords
Mail Filtering
From the Tools menu, choose Message Filters
You can set up rules to sort junk mail and spam
Select which email account to apply the filters to
To make a new rule or filter Click New
Select how you want to filter email
